Silly hypocrisy.

Someone I know wrote a Woman Code, much similar to the Bro Code. I found it, not only wildly entertaining, but to be truthful standards to live by as ladies.
Then when the author broke her own code, I think it now to be nothing but silliness.
Ironic really.

happy thoughts.

Call me lame and childish but this little chick makes me happy when I'm elbow deep in manila folders at work.

elder Cam Cam

Tiny little Cam Cam has put his mission papers in. The baby of the family is all growed up. Everyone has made their guesses as to where he's going.  I'm just banking on him going somewhere foreign so I can save all my pretty pennies for the next two years and pick him up at the end/have a vacation somewhere awesome. My older brothers went to Spain and Germany, so Cameron is gonna end up in Little Rock, AR. Just watch.

Shoecide.

As per usual, I was Monica's date (as she is most always mine) to a wedding tonight. We got all dressed up, ferociously stylish of course. We stopped by Target on the way to pick up a giftcard.
I worked at this particular Target for several years in college, and as I was standing at the register and a former co worker came up to talk to me.
Richard is a 50 something seminary teacher. He started commenting on my shoes, asking if I like the way boys heads turn when they see them. I played along saying, of course that's the point. And then Richard grabbed me by the shoulders and in very serious tones said,
"you don't want to know what you're making boys think with those shoes, don't walk around alone tonight, I'm serious."

the other thing that I love that I do

So back to my indentured servitude,  I intern at the Springville Art Museum. I go in a couple days a week and do what ever nobody else wants to do.
In the fall I worked in operations, which is the behinds the scenes planning. If you ever read anything published in newspapers and such about the museum with the tagline Natalie Petersen, Assistant Director, yeah that was me. This semester I'm working in the curatorial department. It is all to do with the art. And this is what I love the most.
Currently hanging in the museum is the annual high school show. I got to help with admissions, laying out and hanging the pieces. It was really really enjoyable. I love. The gallery in the basement, I got to layout, which is harder than it sounds. And the gallery with the conference table, I nailed those into the wall. It's hard to describe the feeling I get seeing something I "designed" hung up for the general public to view.

B is not only for Boredom,

it's also for Baking.
Some people bake strictly for occasions, some people bake to fulfill a craving {I often make cookie dough}, some people bake to relieve stress {I once woke up to a kitchen table full of pumpkin cookies during finals week sophomore year}, but I bake out of boredom.
I'm not the biggest fan of straight up cake. I'm a cupcake person {better frosting ratio}, and even better a mini cupcake person. Anything already bite size is so much better.
Tonight I was bored.
And at 9 pm I started making what turned out to be 90 mini red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting:

i love what i do.

so I currently have two jobs. One that pays and one that is indentured serventry.
I love my job job, the one where I make money. I'm now in charge of people, which is always a plus. I love the big picture of what I do--help disabled people. I'm efficient and well, good at what I do.  But most of all I love who I work with. We know how to have a good time. Here are things we've done this past week (mind you I work at a law firm):

speed walk racing
debated the legitimacy of "balance bracelets"
discussed at length the series finale of Friends
watched Youtube videos made by our boss
googled 140 lb three year olds (yes they exist)
mimicked marching band geeks
clocked out for Starbucks ten minutes after clocking in for the day
brief ballet lessons
and because its march, started a basketball gambling ring.

I have not laughed as hard as I have laughed sitting in a field of cubicles at this job.

i lost my train of...

thought. I sat down to type an awesome post that I composed in the shower not ten minutes ago. And now I have no idea even what the topic was.
So I'll sleep on it and get back to you.

ps. I did zumba tonight. It was fantastic and awful all rolled into one. I've got rhythm and weak lungs. The instructor shouted out at my hip rolling/ butt shaking skills. Be impressed.

musical triggers.

Do you have songs that you just can't listen to anymore? I do. And I hate it. My superb memory gets the best of  me sometimes. I can't listen to any of the following because, in one way or another, they hurt to listen to:

california girls-katy perry, better together-jack johnson,
hear you me-jimmy eat world,  my boo-nelly/kelly rowland,
amazed-lonestar and young folks-peter, bjork and john.

the Gubs.

Monica and I started an obsession with Criminal Minds, the television show. And with said obsession blossomed a second,
Matthew Gray Gubler.

He's adorably nerdy, and his character in the show is wicked intelligent. He grew up mormon which adds appeal, I found a quote in a magazine:
"i am proud to be a mormon, i am not proud that i'm a jack mormon."
The night after reading that quote I had a dream that he came to my singles ward in LA (monica and i are planning to move there in the future, more to come on that) and I casually sat by him and made some witty comment, we joked during sacrament and that was the end of the dream.
Now, I think the show is filmed in LA and there are only two singles wards.....let's just hope he hits a righteous streak when I get down there.

a fourth grade past time.

A friend recently reminded me of my adoration for Shel Silverstein. Here's a sampling:
Sick
'I cannot go to school today, '
Said little Peggy Ann McKay.
'I have the measles and the mumps,
A gash, a rash and purple bumps.
My mouth is wet, my throat is dry,
I'm going blind in my right eye.
My tonsils are as big as rocks,
I've counted sixteen chicken pox
And there's one more-that's seventeen,
And don't you think my face looks green?
My leg is cut-my eyes are blue-
It might be instamatic flu.
I cough and sneeze and gasp and choke,
I'm sure that my left leg is broke-
My hip hurts when I move my chin,
My belly button's caving in,
My back is wrenched, my ankle's sprained,
My 'pendix pains each time it rains.
My nose is cold, my toes are numb.
I have a sliver in my thumb.
My neck is stiff, my voice is weak,
I hardly whisper when I speak.
My tongue is filling up my mouth,
I think my hair is falling out.
My elbow's bent, my spine ain't straight,
My temperature is one-o-eight.
My brain is shrunk, I cannot hear,
There is a hole inside my ear.
I have a hangnail, and my heart is-what?
What's that? What's that you say?
You say today is...Saturday?
G'bye, I'm going out to play!

I love Shel.
Seriously, who wouldn't trust this guy with their kids?

the name behind the blog.

At a very young age, as pictured here:
[ that's my dad at 34, can you understand why my siblings and I are so small now?]

my mother coined a nickname for me.
Miss Katie Kaboom.
If there is a way to break, spill or utterly destroy something, I will figure it out and do it without even trying.
Even though I was a ballerina for most my life, I lack balance and depth perception. I'm extremely clumsy but I find that my small frame masks it pretty well, that is until something shatters on the floor.

DI day.

So last week, my bff-not-lesbian lover Monica happened to enter the American Fork DI and found some great finds. Today we went on an adventure to continue that luck.

I ended the day, after sifting through 5 DIs, with two substantial finds:
A 1970s olive green glass snack set (matching plates and cups for 4) for $5
and a seasons 1 and 2 DVD box set of Saved By The Bell for $9.

I'm quite pleased.

If you need a Zack Morris fix, I can help you out.

the time has come.

I kept a blog when I lived in London. I then decided that continuing it in Provo would not be as exciting. Now over a year later, its time to document my life again.

I have had some awesome times and some awful times, even within just this past week. But the internet will just have to guess what all went down in my life since the last time I wrote about it.

I'm beginning with today and I'm starting
....
..
.
now.
